Catasetum fimbriatum (female)

Catasetum fimbriatum is not native to this part of the world including Sarawak.
It is native to Central and South America.
Nevertheless, Catasetum produces beautiful and unusual flowers.
The flowers got this plastic look to it.
The top of the flower is like a hood protecting the lip.
Catasetum has a special characteristic.
That is, a plant can produce flowers of one sex, i.e. male or female but also capable of producing flowers of both sexes.
Interesting right.
I hope our Catasetum will produce some male flowers next :)
